The Malibu Surfing Association, one of California’s elite surfing clubs, will compete in a Teams Challenge against Queensland’s Noosa Malibu Club at The Global Surf Industries Noosa Festival of Surfing, March 14-21. A cross-continent challenge between clubs based at two of the world’s perfect waves-First Point, Malibu and First Point, Noosa-the Teams Challenge continues a tradition that began at MSA’s 2009 Classic surfing contest.

“This is the second round of what we expect will be an ongoing exchange between our clubs,” MSA President Michael Blum said in a press release. “NMC traveled to the MSA Classic with some of their best surfers. Being the only California club invited to the Challenge we’re responding in kind and look to put on a good show, representing MSA, SoCal, and the Malibu surfing community.”

MSA has a 15-member team traveling to Noosa, including Malibu legend Denny Aaberg, professional surfer Julie Cox, noseriding specialists Sean Oppenheimer and Margaret Yao, and upcoming juniors Taylor Nelson, Sara Toussieng and Jesse Hinkle. Additionally, MSA member Kathy ‘Gidget’ Kohner-Zuckerman will be a special guest at Noosa Longboard’s “Gidget’s Girls Night Out.”

The Noosa Malibu Club has also confirmed their participation in the 2010 MSA Classic, slated for Sept. 11-12 at Surfrider Beach.
