Martha DeAngelis died at her home on July 4, the anniversary of her late husband’s death. She was 91 years old. Born on Aug. 29, 1917 in Capri, Italy, DeAngelis arrived in New York in 1932, where she resided with her mother, father and five siblings. She later married Antonio DeAngelis, also from Capri. In 1948, the couple moved to Los Angeles, along with Martha’s siblings, their spouses and children. Beginning in 1960 and continuing for 20 years, DeAngelis went to work for her brother and sisters as a bookkeeper at Nu Way Plating. In the 1970s, the family purchased a home in Malibu, which they still refer to as the “Capri beach house.”
DeAngelis leaves behind her sister Rose Cerotta of Malibu; her children Joseph and Phyllis DeAngelis and Elisa and Michael Sheedy; and five grandchildren.
A tile in her honor is on display at the corner of Cross Creek Road and Civic Center Way. Services were held at San Fernando Mission.
