California Senator Henry Stern will be hosting a Malibu Canyon & Creek community safety meeting on Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at King Gillette Ranch in light of the recent homicides in the area.
According to Stern’s social media posts, representatives from the California Highway Patrol, Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station and California State Parks will be on hand to “discuss action being taken to keep the Santa Monica Mountains safe.”
The meeting comes after the shooting death of 35-year-old Tristan Beaudette in the campgrounds at Malibu Creek State Park, which made national headlines. Other homicides—including that of 52-year-old Francisco Reynaldo Cruz and 19-year-old Roger Eli Chavez-Barahona—have left residents uneasy.
