Paintings by local abstract artist and former Pepperdine art professor Avery Falkner will be on display throughout the month of June at Ollo bistro.
Falkner’s works are influenced by the natural environment, as well as the complexity of man-made structures. He works spontaneously, tuning into the evolution of a painting until the elements finally come together, and bright colors and unusual textures are common themes in his canvases.
Falkner has been involved with the Malibu community since the early 1970s, when he was hired to teach studio art at Pepperdine’s newly completed Malibu campus. He recently retired after a 39-year tenure.
