Last night I attended the Malibu planning meeting and spoke against the invasion of another giant house exceeding 17,000 square feet being built in rural Malibu Park. This issue is especially critical because the horse trails in Malibu Park are disappearing as a result of homes like this one intersecting with the old trails. Instead of focusing on the issue, Les Moss, one of the planning commissioners, attacked the Malibu Park Homeowners Association in an effort to discredit it and the members attending the hearing who opposed this gargantuan monument. How dare he! I joined this HOA at the urging of John Wall almost as soon as I moved into the neighborhood. We are a tight group who love our community.
Mr. Moss should be removed. He had nothing to offer last night but criticism. To their credit, the other commissioners saw our struggle and tried to look for remedies. However, the readers should know that they rubberstamped every single addition and project that came before them. I suggest that the Commission practice saying the word “no” in the mirror over and over before Malibu turns into Beverly Hills. It is well on its way.
