I drive the beautiful Kanan Canyon to work every morning. It never fails to give me a glimpse of nature at its finest. For the last year (it seems that long anyway) as I get close to PCH, there is a new house going up on the right side, a bit obscured by a winding road. Since the contractor has been working there, it seems like never-ending litter and rubbish from the site spew over the hillside. Much of it has worn into the grass now after the many rains but the evidence of carelessness is all too apparent.
This seems to be a common day occurrence that could so easily be avoided if we just paid more attention or perhaps incurred very large fines. I would like to call for Malibu clean-up days, where people just joined in and either walked the beaches together or the roads or wherever as a community and just picked up some of the endless trash that litters our beaches, roads and hills. All it would take is a few celebrities to give their time and it would unite Malibu for a cause that would pay back the community in immeasurable pride and serenity.
