After a domestic dispute and an hours-long police standoff, a Pacific Palisades man was found dead in his home Thursday, Aug. 10.
According to LAPD spokesman Drake Madison, the chain of events started last night at 10:52 p.m. A woman called with an assault with a deadly weapon complaint, leading officers to the 1600 block of Alta Mura Road. The responding officers encountered a private security firm representative at the scene.
The suspect had barricaded himself in the home, prompting officers to set up a perimeter and call in a SWAT team. The woman ran out of the home prior to the barricade and was safe, according to the police.
Gunshots were heard from the home shortly after 5 a.m. but no officers were injured. Madison confirmed that some houses in the area had been evacuated while others were sheltered in their homes with numerous resources on the scene. Soon after, officers shot several rounds of tear gas into the 9,000 sq. ft. home.
Police were able to gain access into the house in the past few hours to discover the suspect dead from a gunshot wound.
The incident is ongoing investigation. No word yet as to whether the suspect’s wound was caused by the police or self-inflicted.
