They’ll be singing-and swinging!-the red, white, and blues when Malibu High School’s award-winning Choral Music Department presents an “American Classics” concert, featuring the songs of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Irving Berlin.
In this celebration of music from the Jazz Age and beyond, choral director Amy Loch and her middle school and high school singers promise an evening of syncopated rhythms, sophisticated lyrics and tuneful melodies that are a change from the more traditional repertoire of their winter and spring concerts. The Middle School Concert Choir, Select Girls Chorus, High School Chorale and Chamber Singers will swing to classics like “Blow, Gabriel, Blow,” “Slap That Bass” and “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” while talented soloists and smaller ensembles will be “Puttin’ On The Ritz,” “Cheek To Cheek” and “In The Still Of The Night.” “American Classics” is sure to be a “De-Lovely” evening.
The concert will take place on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at Malibu High, located at 30215 Morning View Drive. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. They can be purchased at the door.
Proceeds from this concert will be used to fund future productions and competitions for the Choral Music Department. For further information, call Malibu High at 310.457.6801.
