I read with interest your story of the proposed project at Civic Center. I’ve been hearing rumors of such a project for some time now, so it was good to read some specifics. Granted, this is a large amount of space to be developed, but I don’t think that the anti-development folks should immediately try to fight this in its entirety. I, for one, would be happy to see a Whole Foods in Malibu. I drive to Brentwood and/or the Valley specifically to shop at Whole Foods and having one in Malibu would save a lot of time and gas money. It would also give Malibu a sorely needed large scale gourmet and natural foods market. I don’t know what other retail stores are proposed for these complexes, but I would much rather patronize businesses in Malibu than those in town. It is more time efficient to do so and it certainly can’t hurt the City to have some more successfully run businesses in town for their tax base. So, I look forward to seeing the Civic Center project proceed.
