I want to thank Tami Clark, Steve Uhring, Kathy Sullivan, and the Surfside News for the attention they have brought to our April 13 election monitor. Bill Koeneker did a great service by researching the issue. This will help resolve it in February before the campaign is in full swing. My inspiration for recommending a campaign monitor was born out of my problem with a campaign in 2001 for the Los Angeles City Council, in which I over-contributed $500 to my cousin’s campaign. I was given incorrect information by a non-lawyer and did not check it out
I want to make sure this does not happen to anyone in this upcoming April election. The monitor will be avaiIable to everyone. In this election, Malibu has a $100 cap per person on donations. If we have a monitor in place, it will help insure we have a fair election. If anyone from Malibu CAN wants to help in this endeavor to make this truly independent, I welcome your help. I think a strong coalition, including myself and members of Malibu CAN, would make a very powerful start in this endeavor. I look forward to hearing from members of Malibu CAN.
My phone number is 456-3018.
