The City of Malibu has named Chris Deleau its new Planning Manager, according to a release issued by the City of Malibu.
With a history working in Malibu as well as Los Angeles County, Ventura County, Santa Barbara and Newport Beach, Deleau has an extensive background interacting with coastal cities.
“[Deleau] has worked extensively on development standards with several coastal and inland cities and counties” explained city spokesperson Matt Myerhoff, in the release.
Deleau has been lauded for both his experience with Malibu’s complicated regulatory environment and his close ties to the community.
Mayor John Sibert expressed his support for Deleau in the statement, noting Deleau’s dedication to Malibu as a city and as a community.
“Chris’ extensive knowledge of Malibu’s laws, planning code, community and regulations means that he will hit the ground running on day one” shared Sibert.
With an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Juris Doctorate from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Deleau is both a California licensed attorney and a city employee.
Deleau is a member of both the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Certified Planners, and worked most recently as Special Projects Manager for Schmitz and Associates, Inc.
