I feel that the Planning Commission is doing a great job. Why can’t the City Council let them do their job correctly and at a pace that is feasible? What is the big hurry? Have I missed something?
The commission could do a better job, if they were given all the facts on the city staff regarding Malibu Bay Company’s projects. Does the staff know all the facts? Is there some hidden agenda? As we know and I hope, Malibuites are aware that this is a huge project containing hundreds of thousands of square feet of build-out. Think about this. More asphalt jungle. More traffic on top of the traffic; we have now on a four-lane highway that has more traffic than it can handle now. How will you get from here to there?
Please call, fax or write your councilmembers and ask them to slow down the process so that everyone, you, me, and the Planning Commission has time to absorb the details of this over all impact on Malibu. I am not saying, “Nix the whole project.” There are some good things in it. Give the community a chance to study all the ideas that the Malibu Bay Company would like to do in our city. Malibu citizens will be voting on the project and we had better know what we’re voting for.
