Big fish

Malibu resident Mark Davis and his son Wes, a fifth grader at Juan Cabrillo Elementary School, arrived in Caracas, Venezuela approximately two weeks ago. While there, Wes caught a 300-pound Atlantic blue marlin.

Upon approval from the International Game Fish Association's Billfish Royal Slam Club-an exclusive group of people who have caught all nine species of billfish around the world- Wes will be the youngest angler ever to have achieved this recognition. Currently, the youngest person to have caught all nine species is a 19-year-old girl who accomplished it in May of last year.
