Clear choice for voters

I am a lifelong Democrat who has always believed in what John Kennedy said when I was a very young man. “Politics is the art of the possible.” That saying has always inspired me. Democrats are always on the cutting edge of the possible. That is why I am supporting Barry Groveman as our next Assembly Representative.

Barry is a rare politician. He does not talk in predictable ways that most politicians do about ideology. His whole approach is how do we fix our problems together. He has the most defining endorsements of all the candidates in this race! Every coastal mayor in our district is endorsing him. They are the mayors of Santa Monica, Malibu, Point Hueneme and Oxnard.

There is an important reason why these mayors are endorsing Barry. He is the mayor of Calabasas and these mayors have seen him in action and like what they see. The State Assembly Representative is our first and most important voice between our city and Sacramento.

Barry has spent a lot of time in Malibu and is keenly aware of all our issues. There are five main issues that Malibu will deal with in the next two years with Sacramento: maintaining and increasing funding for our schools; working together with the City of Malibu and the California Coastal Commission in a conciliatory way to comply with the Coastal Act and protect private property rights; obtaining State grants to fund our new Legacy Park; addressing and opposing the proposed construction of the floating LNG plant off of the western end of our city.

And, of course, resolving the ever-present problems of PCH. Every one of these issues is going to demand a dynamic Assembly Representative. A vote for Barry Groveman is a vote for Malibu on June 6.
