CNN reported the USS Lake Champlain (CG-57) collided with a South Korean fishing boat near the Korean peninsula in May.
The USS Lake Champlain (CG-57) was originally scheduled for a September port visit in Malibu. The Malibu Times reported in July that Malibu Navy League’s John Payne had cited schedule conflicts as the reason for the cancellation.
Navy destroyer USS John S. McCain made headlines last week when it collided with an oil tanker near Singapore. The remains of 10 sailors were finally recovered as of Aug. 28, according to CNN.Â
While the collision investigation is ongoing, it’s worth noting that the USS McCain is the fourth naval incident reported to occur in the Pacific.Â
