A Santa Monica child dies on a bad L S D trip.

And Cornucopia is adamant .. not one inch … as the county says “c’mon – we gotta build.”

This is Malibu’s only local daily news: the Tuesday edition … from Radio Malibu  …. 97 point 5 K B U.

Good morning Puerco Canyon Road!

——

No rain yet .. but it’s coming.

Details in a  few minutes.

A person being chased by LA county sheriff’s deputies drove into another vehicle on PCH at Webb Way this afternoon, sending an innocent party to a hospital and tying up the roadway for hours.

The crash was at about 4pm.

PCH was closed most of the evening from Malibu Canyon Road to Cross Creek Road, while measurements were taken at the crash site.

LA county sheriff’s deputies had been looking for a domestic violence suspect and found the man, who refused to pull over.

The original crime was reported at 3:30 pm.

The man was driving a yellow car … described by one witness as a hopped up Honda Civic type vehicle like the ones that race in the canyon roads.

It smashed onto a Tesla and demolished the electric car.

Traffic detectives brought in laser-beam measuring devices to reconstruct the crash.

PCH was closed off and on into the night.

Circumstances make it appear that the person being chased caused the collision, sending one innocent party to the hospital with facial cuts, a deputy said last night.

Malibu’s city council is looking at problems caused by members calling in to meetings by phone.

The problem is with the state open meetings law.

Last week … Mayor Lou La Monte was in Washington at a League of Cities meeting.

And councilman Skylar Peak was in the South Pacific … on his honeymoon.

Both attended and participated in the city council meeting on the phone … and the phone line from the South Pacific was not good.

Here’s councilman Peak … attending the meeting via Skype from the Marshall Islands.

SKYLARSOUND CART AAAAA LOW LEVELS OK  :42 QQQQ: let’s move on to LOU

[[[[[[ NATSOT AUDIO FROM LAST WEEK’S MEETING WITH LONG BUFFERING GAPS AND CONFUSION ]]]]]]

That’s audio from last week’s council meeting …. and the sound gaps have some residents and now the city attorney saying  … this is a problem.

The proposed city council policy … recommended by the city attorney … is guided by state law.

It would require Skylar Peak’s surfing resort in the Marshall Island … or Lou La Monte’s hotel in Washington … to post the Malibu agenda three days in advance …

Also … to have a speakerphone available so members of the public in the Marshall Islands or District of Columbia may participate in the Malibu council meeting.

State law requires that … but it hasn’t been done.

It would also require a council member planning to be absent to get advance city council permission to be on a phone.

It goes before a city council subcommittee at a special meeting tomorrow at 3:30.

The leader of the Cornucopia Farmers Market is adamant … repeating that the market is not willing to concede one inch for construction at the Malibu Civic Center.

L-A County has plans to lease the parking lot and western end of the Civc Center to Santa Monicaa College … which has plans to construct a $25 million community college campus.

The county says it is confident that it can juggle both construction on weekdays and  the weekend Farmers Market … but the market will have to move around.

The market’s lease extension … into this summer … goes before the Board of Supervisors today.

Some major events in the school district divorce between Malibu and Santa Monica are coming up,

Tonight … members of the citizens committee that worked out divorce details will present their divorce agreement to members of the public in Santa Monica.

Tonight’s meeting is at 7 o’clock at the District Headquarters building … at 16th Street and Olympic Boulevard in Santa Monica.

AMPS … the Malibu separation activists … are hoping for a huge turnout of Malibu residents.

The other meeting will be next Monday at 7 at the Malibu City Hall.

Every school board member has endorsed the divorce … and the creation of a Malibu school district.

The devil is in the financial details … as both sides are intent on Malibu paying Santa Monica to ensure that students there are not put at a disadvantage after the divorce.

The School Board will take up the divorce plan in April.

Fianlly … LAPD has issued a critical missing bulletin for a young man who finished the L A Marathon Sunday… and then disappeared.
