The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the tree trimmer who was killed in Malibu on February 17.
Jose Campos, a 50-year-old male, was found unconscious in a tree 25 feet above the ground on the 24800 block of Pacific Coast Highway and pronounced dead on the scene after his body was lowered.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Sgt. Phil Brooks, of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station, Campos was a resident of the San Fernando Valley and was from El Salvador, not having any known family in the United States.
The death was ruled to be accidental and no criminal investigation was conducted following the discovery of Campos’ remains. It is believed that he was electrocuted after touching a live electrical wire.
