Incomplete passes and interceptions kept the Malibu High football team on the defensive resulting in a blowout loss to the Hueneme High Vikings, 49-0, on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 — Homecoming.
This nonconference game leaves the Malibu Sharks with an overall season record of 1-4. The Vikings record remains untainted at 5-0.
Homecoming festivities included a halftime show with performances by the Malibu High dance team, cheerleaders and drumline. Class floats circled the field carrying students as spectators cheered them on.
Malibu High seniors Wes Davis and Shelby Thacker were crowned king and queen of the Homecoming Court.
“A loss is a loss, but we always gotta keep our heads up,” Malibu quarterback Braxton Pierce said. “We got Santa Monica next week and I think things will go our way.”
The Sharks face the Santa Monica Mariners on Friday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. in Malibu.
