Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen will lead a community drum circle and a drum lesson on Sunday.

The Raven Drum Foundation will host two events on Sunday to benefit its Veteran Trauma & Resiliency Program.

The Community Drum Circle, which will take place at Bluffs Park, will be a large gathering of up to 300 people honoring the nation’s veterans through a musical journey of healing and transformation. Led by Raven Drum co-founders Rick Allen and Lauren Monroe, the event will pay tribute to those who have died and those who are coming home with life-changing injuries. The drum circle will also include Moon Calhoun of Gap Band and Rufus fame.

The VIP Sunset Drum Lesson with Allen will take place after the drum circle and will feature a rare opportunity to learn from the legendary Def Leppard drummer. Allen will share his personal story of how music helped him heal from extreme trauma-the loss of an arm in a car accident while at the height of worldwide fame-and he will teach basic drumming styles, techniques and rhythms. The event will be limited to 25 people and will take place inside the Michael Landon Center at Bluffs Park from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Community Drum Circle will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $30 per person on the day of the event or $25 per person if purchased on-line by Sept. 17. To make a reservation, go to www.ravendrumfoundation.org. Drums, donated by Remo Percussion for this event, will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals are also welcome to bring their own drums.

The VIP Sunset Drum Lesson will include light appetizers and refreshments will be served. The cost is $150 per person.
