A few weeks ago I said my usual prayers. “Please God, just once let Malibu be united for a common good.” Then one morning I woke up and saw every cross-section in Malibu endorsing Measure S, the Santa Monica College Bond. Could it be possible that Ozzie Silna would put his name on the same document with Anne Hoffman and me? Richard Carrigan with Andy Stern? John Mazza with Jeff Jennings? My prayers had been answered. But last week’s papers proved that no drama is complete without conflict. Enter stage left, Joan House and Ed Niles. Interesting casting, since Joan and I supported the Malibu’s Parks bond and Ed Niles opposed it. But no one ever said answering prayers was easy. So, with a little work, I feel confident that Joan will come back to supporting our quality of life and bring Ed with her. Stay tuned. And please vote “yes” on Measure S.
