Hot Licks of Wind Teasing Malibu – 103º Inland
The first hot licks of Santa Ana winds began to toast the hills and canyons of Southern California overnight … in advance of a large Santa Ana windstorm that’s supposed to develop today through Wednesday.
It was 89 degrees overnight on the beach at Trancas … but at Santa Monica … 69 … showing the difference between offshore and onshore winds..
The National Weather Service says a “monster” high pressure ridge will squeeze air down
into deserts and through mountains toward the Pacific coast.
Santa Anas may engulf Game One of the World Series, possibly blowing over of the outfield pavilion and directly towards home plate.
Red Flag Warnings are up today … for gusts up to 25 miles per hour today … stronger winds tomorrow … gusts up to 50.
Highs today … on the beach … from 95 to 105.
2 Motorcyclists Down At Neptunes Net

FioS Suffers Systemwide Fail Under Frontier
It was a frustrating weekend for internet and telephone customers of Frontier Communications … which operates the FioS service in Malibu.
Lines went dead at 6:15 Friday evening.
No internet service … some landlines were reported dead … and even cellphones on other systems went dead.
Many cellphone users discovered that their phones switch over to Wi Fi inside hotspots … like their homes.
And where the hotspots were connected to Frontier FioS … they were dead . taking the cellphones with them.
Frontier spokesman Javier Mendoza tells K B U U that the service outage affected coastal cities and some inland areas.
But an independent Internet monitoring service showed that it affected nearly all of Frontier’s California service area … including in the Bay Area and as far east as the Inland Empire.
Frontier has been struggling with the FioS system that it bought from Verizon a year and a half ago.
And nationwide … the firm is struggling to keep customers after the disastrous service problems of late.
The Frontier spokesman either doesn’t know … or won’t say … what the nature of the failure was.
As near as we can tell … it was a failure somewhere within Frontier of its system that routes internet traffic to the right address.
This could have been one computer failing somewhere.
Or a hacker.
Bottom line … phones went dead.
No way to call 9 1 1 for thousands of people.
Frontier FioS is one of the three Internet service providers in Malibu.
