I have lived in Malibu since 1964 and, without a doubt, one of the most treacherous intersections is the right or left hand turn exiting from Winter Canyon Road onto Civic Center Way. Mothers bringing or picking up children for Webster School or Our Lady of Malibu School have had to contend with the heavy volume of Z traffic, people traveling to and from Malibu Canyon Road trying to avoid one traffic signal by exiting onto Civic Center Way.
At times the traffic was so heavy in both directions on Civic Center Way, that it was virtually impossible to make a turn into and/or to exit from Winter Canyon Road. This new blocking off of the Z traffic has been like heaven on earth for those going to Our Lady of Malibu Church.
And I hope when school resumes the mothers of both schools will be singing the praises of the Malibu council members who were creative in devising this scheme and courageous enough to go ahead with the idea even though a few persons do not like this arrangement and won’t “be voting for them when the next election time rolls around!”
