The Malibu Library Speaker Series will host Scott Backovich on Wednesday, May 20, a youth motivational speaker credited as a “teen help whiz.”
Backovich, who himself is in his 20s, is known for leveling with teenagers and helping them feel their true potential, according to the announcement on the Malibu Library website.
“From cell phones to Twitter updates, Facebook to YouTube, teens have both grown up in and created a culture that has redefined what it means to connect,” the website states. “Scott [Backovich] has dedicated his life to connecting with and empowering students everywhere.”
The Malibu Library Speaker Series is a program of the County of Los Angeles Public Library, Malibu Branch and the City of Malibu that features talks by experts on a wide range of subjects, including education, arts, literature, science, sports and more.
The event is free and open to the public and will include refreshments as well as a Q&A with Garibaldi after his performance. RSVPs are required to attend.
