Eastbound PCH Closed at Trancas Due to Fatal Traffic Collision

[Update: 2:10 p.m.] Eastbound lanes of traffic on PCH at Trancas Canyon Road would remain closed “for several hours,” according to estimates from officials at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station on Friday.

According to Sgt. Ruda, later information showed there was one passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash, in addition to the two drivers. The passenger survived the collision and was transported to a nearby medical center for treatment following the crash that left two dead Friday afternoon.

[Friday, Aug. 3, 1:37 p.m.] All eastbound traffic on Pacific Coast Highway was stopped at Trancas Canyon Road on Friday, Aug. 3, following a head-on traffic collision that left two dead.

Westbound traffic was down to one lane, as of 1:30 p.m.

Emergency calls came in to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station at just after noon on Friday, reporting a head-on collision. 

“Due to the head on collision with two deceased people, there was a cyclist who took on some debris. He or she was transported via ambulance to a hospital,” Sgt. Ruda of the Malibu/Lost Hills said Thursday.

According to Ruda, there were no known passengers in either vehicle, and both drivers involved were dead on scene.

Drivers heading eastbound (toward Santa Monica) were being told to wait or make U-turns at Trancas.
