Civic Center Way between Winter Canyon Road and Vista Pacifica will be closed to through traffic from Aug. 7, 2003 through January 2004.
The pilot project, created by the City of Malibu, will evaluate traffic safety and create a pocket park in the area where the road is closed. While the road is closed, the city will appraise traffic patterns and impacts on the surrounding streets and schools for a potential future project to permanently close off through traffic on Civic Center Way. The results of this evaluation will be brought back to the City Council for a final determination on whether to make the closure permanent.
During the pilot road closure:
€ Motorists will be able to access Winter Canyon Road from Civic Center Way via Malibu Canyon Road.
€ Vista Pacifica Street will be accessible from Civic Center Way via Cross Creek Road or Webb Way.
€ The left turn restriction from Malibu Canyon Road onto Civic Center Way will be temporarily removed during the pilot road closure.
