Bone-crushers advance to U-14 championships

After finishing the regular season tied for first in their division with the other girls under-14 team from Malibu, the Bone Crushers finished second in the Area E playoffs last weekend. The Malibu team took on teams from Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Agoura Hills and Newbury Park in the tournament. 

On Saturday, the local team won their pool with a dramatic last-minute goal against Thousand Oaks. 

The Bone Crushers then won their first game in Sunday’s semi-final against undefeated Newbury Park. The game went to penalty kicks, with Margot Wexler putting in the final goal for the win.

The final game against Agoura went into overtime and was decided in the final minute, with Agoura winning 1-0. 

With their second-place finish, the Malibu girls will advance to the Southern Section Championship Tournament in Bakersfield in February.
