The California Wildlife Center (CWC) Baby Care Unit is now open for the season.
The center’s Baby Care Unit opened in March, and is currently occupied by eastern fox squirrels, Virginia opossums, a gray squirrel, pigeons and doves. Baby songbirds are expected to arrive in late April.
Several of Baby Care Unit’s current residents are there temporarily because their nests fell out of trees that were trimmed. Volunteers feed the babies multiple times a day until they are ready to be released back into the wild.
CWC encourages citizens to help baby animals by waiting until late fall to trim trees. Help the center with a donation by visiting cawildlife.org.
