A non-denominational candlelight vigil and memorial was held at the Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue (MJCS) for victims of the Las Vegas shooting on Thursday evening, Oct. 12.

The Rev. Dr. Joyce Stickney of St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, Cantor Marcelo Gindlin of MJCS and Anne Hughes of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Malibu, led the group in prayer and song.

The service included an opportunity for attendees to voice their thoughts, concerns and fears. Afterward, the memorial clergy and attendees lit a candle for each of the 58 lives that were lost at the shooting, where a gunman opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on Oct. 1.
