Three people were injured when a car travelling southbound on Kanan Dume Road near Latigo Canyon Road crashed into a stormdrain and eventually rolled over and landed on its roof, California Highway Patrol Deputy Leland Tang said.
“Preliminarily, we think speed could have been a factor,” Tang said.
The male driver suffered “moderate injuries,” a male passenger riding in the front seat suffered “moderate to major injuries,” and a female riding in the backseat suffered “minor” injuries, according to Tang. The two men, both age 21, were airlifted to UCLA Medical Center, while the female, 27, was taken to Los Robles Hospital via ambulance. All three are Los Angeles residents.Â
Contrary to a report first logged by CHP shortly after 11 a.m., Tang said one southbound lane of Kanan Dume Road was shut down, not a northbound lane.Â
The black Honda overturned at Kanan Dume Road and Pitsch Canyon Road at approximately 11 a.m., when according to the CHP, the vehicle somehow veered off the road onto a dirt shoulder, slammed into a stormdrain, travelled up an embankment and rolled onto its roof as it came down into the roadway.
Several motorists stopped to try and help get the passengers out of the vehicle, according to the CHP.
The accident was cleared by 1 p.m.
