The Malibu High School girls’ varsity basketball team last week won its final league game of the season against the Santa Paula Cardinals, 47-40.
Guard Hannah Robinson, one of three varsity sophomore starters, led the Sharks with 17 points. Senior center and co-captain Dominique Magee finished her fourth season with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and her high point and rebound averages establish her as one of the top three players in Malibu High School girls’ basketball history.
“Considering that of the nine players on this year’s varsity [team], six were either freshmen or sophomores, I think the girls had an excellent season against some very physical, experienced and often gnarly Frontier League competitors,” Head Coach Andy Meyer said. “The experience of this season’s eight wins combined with their characteristic spirit and never-give-up personalities could and should lead to an exciting 2009-2010 season.”
