Malibu resident Ginny Mancini was honored with an award from the Neighborhood Music School (NMS) from John Williams at the NMS Centennial Gala. The event, which took place at the Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles on Sept. 13, was attended by 250 guests and supporters.
Composer/conductor John Williams presented NMS’ Inaugural Mancini Award to Mancini for her work as an arts philanthropist and music education advocate. The award is named in memory of her husband, Henry Mancini, to honor individuals who are advocates of and promote music education opportunities for low-income students.
Mancini, who also celebrated her 90th birthday, sang her acceptance speech, an original song she wrote.
