The Malibu Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution held its monthly meeting on Oct. 10 at the Malibu home of Bonnie Bates, and welcomed members of the Children of the American Revolution Society of Los Angeles as special guests. C.A.R., the nation’s oldest, largest, patriotic youth organization, offers membership to anyone under the age of 21, lineally descended from someone who rendered material aid to the cause of American independence. Molly Schutzenberger, president of the Los Angeles C.A.R., and D.A.R. member Debbie Palmer gave a presentation on the origin, purposes and activities of the group.

A primary focus of California C.A.R. societies is to support the Travis Fisher House located at the Travis Air Force Base, one of more than 30 comfort homes built on military bases to help military families in need, giving them a place to stay without charge when one of their family members is hospitalized.
