The Malibu Jewish Center & Synagogue (MJC&S) hosted its annual dinner dance, the “Disco Ball,” on Saturday, May 17. As part of the evening, the center honored The Malibu Times publishers Karen and Arnold York with the Shem Tov Award and the late Tamar Freeman with the Chachamim Award.
Alex Fragen, President of the Board at the MJC&S, said of the Yorks and their dedication to the center: “Karen and Arnold York are the essence of MJC&S. They are our guiding force.” The program included a cocktail reception with a silent auction and raffle, dinner, a musical performance by disco group The Boogie Knights and a live auction. One of the items up for auction was a South African Safari.
