This weekend, I had a remarkable experience. I had just sent an absentee vote in support of measure “S” because I thought it was important and the right thing to do. Now, with all the passion in Malibu about the “Les Miserables” production at our high school, I was curious about it. As a musician, composer, prior teacher, and educational publisher of learning through music products, I have had a lot of exposure to the arts in education. I know that the experience of participating in arts projects is invaluable. I know it forever enriches the life of those fortunate enough to have such experiences. I went to the performance, prepared not to look for an excellent production, but to participate in the spirit of the performance.
I got more than I came for. I can’t say enough about the excellence of the production. It was amazing. And I can’t say enough about the talents of the performers. As to the spirit of the evening, I had a wonderful time and left energized, refreshed and delighted. If “S” doesn’t pass, we must find a way to Iceep the gift of the arts available for our kids.
