The closure will affect Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Malibu and Topanga.

Topanga Canyon Boulevard will be closed completely between Pacific Coast Highway and Grand View Drive from July 27 at 10 p.m. through July 30 at 5 a.m., according to a public statement from California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

Caltrains repair crews will be addressing “emergency repair and restoration to an eroded slope embankment along Topanga Creek,” the statement read.

This comes after mudslides and debris flow—which occasionally caused full closures of the read—from the past winter season.

Motorists are advised to take the 101 Freeway, Las Virgenes Road or Malibu Canyon Road as alternatives; expect delays. California Highway Patrol officers will be present to help with traffic control and detours.

According to Caltrans, Topanga Town will remain open to visitors.
