Flirting with danger

Valerie Sklarevsky’s letter concerning rampant and reckless use of golf carts on Point Dume resonated with me. Often, especially through the summer and in afternoons, I have wondered whether parents know how dangerously their kids are driving these golf carts on the streets of Point Dume. When small children are allowed to drive vehicles on the streets it is a prescription for disaster and not a very responsible life lesson.

While these carts are probably a convenience for some folks, it’s disheartening to see bad attitudes visited upon neighbors and risky driving gambling with kids’ well-being. Valerie is right. If you use a golf cart, please take the high road and choose safety for everyone’s sake.
