Longtime Malibu resident John Clark Armstrong died on Sept. 20 after a battle with cancer.
Armstrong was born in Paducah, Kentucky, on May 19, 1962, raised in Burbank, California, and resided in Malibu for the past two decades.
At age 22, he began his career in the entertainment industry as a local #399 teamster and became one of the most sought after picture car coordinators. In 1995 he married Lori Stilson, and shortly after, they began their family with the birth of their two daughters Amellia and Daisy. His passion for golf, cars and his girls played a prominent role in his life.
Armstrong was diagnosed with cancer in February of 2015 and fought a 20-month battle with “so much courage, strength and dignity,” a loved one shared. “Doctors and nurses grew to love him and were in great awe of his stamina.”
Armstrong was a husband, father, son, friend and mentor.
“He adored his family, cherished his friends and was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him,” a family member said. “His presence will be forever missed, but his legacy lives on.”
Armstrong is survived by his wife Lori; daughters Amellia, Daisy and Breanna; son-in-law Patrick; granddaughter Brooklyn; Hoss; his mother Sandy-mom and Pappa-daddy Charles; brothers Michael and Christopher, as well as their wives; and his nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a fund for colorectal cancer research fund has been set up in Armstrong’s name at USC: classy.org/johnarmstrong.
