Ticked off by disease

Thanks for the article on ticks. I, indeed, was bit in the fall. It was October, 2001. I had heard of Lyme disease but didn’t think it was anything to worry about. I ignored the tick bite until I became so debilitated I had to find out what was stopping me from working or doing routine chores around the house.

It took over a year and a half before I found a doctor knowledgeable enough about Lyme disease to test me with Igenex Lab.

I came back positive on the western blot. I am currently taking bicillin shots twice a week. It has been two and a half months so far for treatment. My hope is that I will get my health back and will be able to return to work. The lack of knowledge or willingness of most doctors to learn about Lyme disease is unbelievably poor.

I have to give the bicillin shots to myself because my Lyme doctor is out of town and the local doctors wish to call this CFS instead of Lyme disease. So, I appreciate any articles I see on the subject in hopes that the more education that is out there, the more people will get help before it gets as bad as I am.
