The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory in Malibu until Sunday at 3 a.m.

Waves of 7 to 10 feet are expected to pound the coast, with 12-foot waves being a possibility as well. Hazardous ocean conditions will likely continue until Saturday night.

The impact of the surf will present a risk of strong rip currents and sneaker waves, which can pull people from rocks, jetties and beaches, especially around high tide. Beaches with high surf may also experience minor beach erosion.

On Saturday, winds are expected between 5 and 10 MPH during the day and a high of 76 degrees is projected. The winds will die down at night but humidity will rise to 58 percent. On Sunday, winds are expected to reach 7 MPH during 70-degree weather, while humidity will reach 63 percent at night.

The NWS reminds beach goers that when caught in a rip tide current to swim parallel to shore until free of the powerful current and also to swim near a lifeguard.
