14-Hour full closure scheduled for Agoura Road on Monday for Wildlife Crossing Construction

Extended closure will support work on the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing; weekday closures continue through Sept. 1

Motorists traveling through Agoura Hills should plan for significant delays on Monday, July 20, as Caltrans implements a 14-hour full closure of Agoura Road to accommodate construction on the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing.

Agoura Road will be completely closed between Rondell Street and Hydepark Drive from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, allowing construction crews to safely perform soffit and stem pour work on the landmark wildlife crossing spanning U.S. Highway 101.

During the closure, no through traffic of any kind will be permitted within the work zone, including motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

The extended closure is in addition to the project's ongoing weekday traffic restrictions. Agoura Road will continue to be fully closed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sept. 1, 2026, as work on the crossing progresses.

To assist those traveling through the area, Caltrans will provide a free shuttle service for pedestrians and cyclists with extended hours on Monday. The shuttle will operate from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., running every 30 minutes throughout the closure.

Eastbound riders can board the shuttle at Dorothy Drive and Chesebro Road, with drop-off at Liberty Canyon Road and Agoura Road. Westbound passengers can board at Liberty Canyon Road and Agoura Road, with service ending at Dorothy Drive and Chesebro Road.

Motorists will be directed to use U.S. Highway 101 between Chesebro Road and Liberty Canyon Road as the primary detour. Caltrans will post detour signage throughout the area to guide drivers around the closure.

In addition, bus stops located within the closure limits will be temporarily relocated during the construction period.

The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, currently under construction over the Ventura (101) Freeway, is designed to reconnect wildlife habitat in the Santa Monica Mountains by providing a safe passage for mountain lions, bobcats, deer, coyotes, and other native species. The crossing is expected to become one of the largest wildlife bridges in the world and is considered a model for improving habitat connectivity while reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions.

Caltrans advises travelers to allow extra travel time, follow posted detours, and exercise caution when driving through the area.

The agency also reminds drivers to "Be Work Zone Alert" and "Slow for the Cone Zone."

All scheduled closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

SHUTTLE SERVICE
Free shuttle service will be available for pedestrians and cyclists to navigate around the closed section of Agoura Road. Shuttles regularly operate every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the scheduled closure dates.

BUS STOP RELOCATIONS
Bus stops within the closure limits will be temporarily relocated during the full closure.
