Malibu mansion used in ‘Austin Powers’ movie for sale

Another high-profile and high-priced mansion is for sale in Pt. Dume. The bluff-top estate known as Venezia Pacifica, used in films such as “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” and in television shows including “The O.C.,” hit the market at $90 million. The home that sits on more than an acre at the end of a cul-de-sac has 17,700 square feet of living space. 

There’s roughly 176 feet of bluff frontage overlooking one of the best surf breaks in Southern California, according to listing agent Chris Cortazzo of Compass. Amenities include a two-story ballroom, a 9,500-square-foot underground garage that can accommodate up to 20 vehicles, a porte cochere, a glass elevator under a barrel-vaulted glass ceiling, a massive circular staircase, pool and spa, nine bedrooms, closets with motorized clothing carousels, and expansive ocean views throughout. 

The home was built by real estate developer Ken Harges. He purchased the land in 1988 for $1.7 million and completed construction in the early 1990s. Harges had a rags-to-riches story. He grew up poor in Tennessee, joined the Marine Corps, and then built a plaster business that allowed him the opportunity to invest in real estate. Harges died 10 years ago. His daughters say he loved having a “little bit of Hollywood” in his life during the filming of movies and TV shows at his home.
