The actual temperature at 6 a m in upper Malibu Canyon … 26.
26 also in Topanga Canyon.
26 at Thousand Oaks.
Here on the beach … it was 40 degrees at sunrise.
Some areas in the mountains were getting wind gusts.
It was blowing at 37 miles an hour in upper Las Flores Canyon … where the temperature was 40 and the wind chill factor was 29 degrees at 6 this morning.
Gale force winds hit the ocean yesterday off Malibu.
The cold, windy and dry storm is blowing through… we could see a small rain front arrive tomorrow night … there’s a 20 percent chance of rain tomorrow night.

One year ago yesterday …. Malibu had 5 point 3 inches of rain in one 36 hour period.
We’ve had one little piddly storm since then.
The return of the California drought has the state Water Resources Control Board ready to bring back those temporary water bans … and make them permanent.
U.S. drought monitors last week declared all of Southern California to be back in drought.
Most of the restrictions would take effect in April.
They include prohibitions on watering lawns so much that the water flows into the street, using a hose to wash down sidewalks, or using a hose without an automatic shut-off nozzle to wash cars.
The governor has ended those water restrictins we had from the local water agency … in Malibu.
It’s very likely those will be coming back.

A mountain lion wearing a National Park Service radio collar has been killing pets over the hill.
Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies fired beanbags at the cougar … as it ate a miniature horse that it had killed in Newbury Park .., northwest fo Malibu.

The rocket paunch that we told you about … the one that should be visible from Malibu … is now scheduled for tomorrow.
The new launch time is set for 6:17 a.m. tomorrow morning.
If that one doesn’t work … the next opportunity to launch will be the same time Thursday.
Given that the launch will be 100 miles west of Malibu … and just before sunrise … it is possible that the rocket and its exhaust trail may be lit up by the sun’s rays reflected back in a predawn sky.
The local forecast is for mostly clear skies.
If there is a launch .. we’ll carry the audio from SpaceX command here on F-M 99-1 KBUU.

Winds will be coming over the mountains at up to 15 miles an hour.

After that … expect it to be ((( cold again )))) tonight … a low of (((( 44 )))) on the beach … down to (((( 33 )))) in the canyons.
Tomorrow should be (((( clouding up )))).
Rain possible tomorrow night.
