In honor of Labor Day, the City of Malibu invites residents to enjoy its parks in the warm weather during its special holiday hours. Malibu Bluffs Park, Trancas Canyon Park, Las Flores Creek Park, Legacy Park and Malibu Equestrian Park will be open from 8 a.m. to dusk. Malibu City Hall and Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District offices will remain closed on Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of the holiday.
The Malibu Times office on Las Flores Canyon Road will also be closed on Sept. 4. The deadline to reserve space for advertisements will be Friday at noon. People items and sports briefs will be due Friday at 10 a.m. Letters to the editor, obituaries, news briefs and calendar events will be accepted through the normal deadline of noon on Tuesday.
Malibu residents are advised to keep an eye on gas and electricity usage with this week’s high temperatures.The Southern California Gas Company recommends residents turn off unnecessary lights, use major appliances only after 9 p.m. and watch for alerts.Â
