It was a wonderful evening at Duke’s Malibu Restaurant this past Saturday as approximately 130 people showed up to celebrate the Annual Trancas Riders & Ropers Awards banquet. Everyone truly enjoyed seeing the youngsters (and even some of the oldsters) receive a variety of ribbons and awards as a result of their outstanding performance with their horses during the previous year at the Malibu Equestrian Park.

As Malibu’s oldest service organization, TR&R has supported the local Malibu horse community for 55 years and we want to thank The Malibu Times for making this possible as a result of on-going coverage of our events. We would also like to thank the entire Malibu administration and the people of Malibu who continue to help us provide the opportunity for our kids to pursue a positive lifestyle through their equestrian endeavors.

The City of Malibu was represented at the banquet by City Council member Pamela Conley Ulich and Parks and Recreation director Bob Stallings. In addition, a television crew was present to cover Compton Jr. Posse founder Mrs. Mayisha Akbar and her riders from Compton as they received their awards for the Trancas equestrian events they had participated in during the previous year at the Malibu Equestrian Park.

Mrs. Akbar mentioned that she has recently received a thank you note from Laura and President George Bush for the wonderful work that her organization has performed using horses to provide inner city youth with a constructive alternative to guns and gangs. Each year, TR&R provides complimentary space for the Jr. Posse at the Annual Horse Fair and they are always welcome at all of our Horse Shows. At the banquet, Jr. Posse members expressed their heartfelt thanks for the way that Malibu has supported their horse-related projects throughout the year.
