The annual Evening Event to raise money for Webster Elementary School drew some 250 revelers to the Malibu Jewish Center Saturday night for a Moroccan-themed dinner, dancing and a silent and live auction.

Spirited bidding to be “principal for a day” led Webster principal Phil Cott, who also doubled as the evening’s auctioneer, to declare two winning bidders. Other hot auction items included “Malibu mayor for a day,” a Hawaiian vacation, backstage passes to “The Suite Life: On Deck,” luxury suites for Dodgers and Clippers games, and a Drum Workshop collector’s edition set of drums and a basket of trendy Webkinz toys.

The event was the big annual fundraiser for the Webster PTA, which supports programs such as computer and science labs, art instruction, classroom teachers’ aides, music and other educational programs for which funding is otherwise unavailable.
