Malibu resident Trevor Simonian was named a valedictorian of the Oaks Christian Middle School Class of 2013 and delivered a commencement address at the graduation ceremony May 29. He earned the distinction for his high academic achievements in his graduating class of 198 students. During his time at the school, he also won awards for Outstanding Student in Science and Outstanding Student in Spanish.
In addition to his academic achievements, Simonian played both football and baseball throughout middle school. In sixth grade, he played in Malibu Little League, where as team captain he led the league in home runs and earned a Majors Division championship. He has also played for Malibu’s Pony “A” baseball team and played on the Oaks Christian team. Additionally, Simonian played football for the Thousand Oaks Titans and the Westlake Braves, where he was a two-way starter on two consecutive Super Bowl teams.
