Parking, not skating

Needless to say, we were disappointed that The Malibu Times didn’t report to its readers that at the May 9 Malibu City Council meeting there was opposition to locating Papa Jack’s Skate Park at Bluffs Park parking lot, as expressed by me, representing a large group of Malibu Citizens who attend classes at the Michael Landon Center. It’s unthinkable that anyone would want to locate it at Bluffs Park parking lot.

A minimum of 28 classes takes place at the center, with tiny tots, youths, adults and seniors attending. The parking lot allows direct, safe and convenient access to the Landon Center without having to walk any distances from another parking lot. We urgently need more parking space.

Let’s find a space for the skate park without invading Bluffs Park parking lot. It appears that those in charge are choosing the easiest and most inappropriate location for Papa Jack’s Skate Park.

We have a petition and are gathering signatures opposing the location of the skate park at Bluffs Park.
