Buckley Ventress, who is battling a rare form of childhood cancer, and his mom, Melissa Muller, share a moment at the community event at Saddlepeak Lodge on Saturday

A community fundraiser took place Saturday for 12-year-old Buckley Ventress, who is battling a rare form of childhood cancer. Family, friends and neighbors came together to help raise money and show their support for Ventress and his family. Musician Scott Thomas of Ringside performed for the group, while the owner of Saddlepeak Lodge hosted the event.

Ventress was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma when he was seven years old. He completed two years of treatment, his cancer went into remission and he was cancer-free for three years. However, the cancer retuned, and Ventress has since been undergoing intensive treatments to battle the rare disease.

More than $25,000 was raised at the community event, and all proceeds will go to aid Ventress in his battle with cancer.
