In response to “National Park Service to conduct visitor survey on local hiking trails” published on June 14.
Please note that National Park Service will be surveying and counting recreational trail visitors at 45 trailheads (not 28) throughout Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. The trailhead locations range from the western end of Point Mugu State Park and Rancho Sierra Vista and the Simi Hills in Ventura County to Runyon Canyon Park in Los Angeles.
Seven of those trailheads are within the City of Malibu (including Charmlee Wilderness Park). That is 16 percent (not 40 percent) of the total trailheads included in the survey.
