Singer Pink leads a group of motorcyclists during the sixth annual Ride to the Flags charity event.

Singer and Malibu local Pink showed her support for wounded veterans over the weekend as she led the sixth annual Ride to the Flags motorcycle trek from Point Mugu Naval Base to Pepperdine’s Waves of Flags 9/11 Memorial.

Pink served as the event’s grand marshal on Saturday, which was organized to benefit Marine Sgt. James Carey. Carey nearly drowned in a 2009 training exercise and was left paralyzed, blind and with speaking difficulties. The White Heart Organization spearheaded the event and hoped to provide Carey with a wheelchair and rehabilitation funds.

Pink, a recognizable Malibu local, tweeted before the ride on Saturday: “I’m out at this morning- an amazing charity motorcycle ride to support injured marine Sgt. James Carey. Donate if yu can! [sic]”

The event took participants through Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and ultimately Malibu, where riders turned from Mulholland Highway onto Malibu Canyon Road to get to Pepperdine University.
